DulcoLax®'s
commitment to a
healthier world

Being recognized as a B Corp means we’re seen as a business with a force for good. Not only is it one of the most well respected certifications for an organization to earn, it is also very difficult, and demands authentic, consistent championing of better self-care for people, communities, and the planet.

Mindful manufacturing

At Opella Canada Inc. we believe in science-proven ingredients that work naturally with your body. All our products are produced following Good Manufacturing Practices requirements, in a strictly controlled environment.

We’ve Partnered With How2Recycle®

At Opella Canada Inc., we’re committed to reducing waste and helping the planet. We have partnered with How2Recycle®, a labeling system that provides clear recycling instructions, to ensure our packaging doesn’t end up in landfills. By following How2Recycle® guidelines, we make recycling easier and empower consumers to embrace sustainability. Let’s work together for a cleaner future.

Climate action

We aim to have achieved a 70% reduction in CO2e emissions by 2025, across Scopes 1 and 2. Compared to our 2019 baseline and as of 2022, we have achieved a 41% reduction*. Also in 2025, we aim to have 100% of our electricity sourced from renewable sources and have already reached 78%*.

* Based on internal Opella Canada Inc. data and forecasts.

Reduce waste

We are working hard to reduce waste and increase circularity across manufacturing sites. By 2025 we aim to achieve zero waste to landfill and have a material recovery rate of 90%. At present, 7 out of 13 sites* have already achieved zero waste to landfill.

*Based on internal data by Opella Canada Inc. manufacturing sites on percentage of discards sent to landfill. Excludes high-temperature incineration and compliant disposal of non-incinerable waste.

Protect ecosystems

Preserving our planet's natural resources is key, and as of 2022 all manufacturing sites have adopted specific programs targeting pharmaceutical residues in water supplies, and those located in sensitive natural areas will simultaneously develop targeted biodiversity management plans by 2030. We also aim to reduce our water withdrawals by 20% by this time.

Conscious
packaging

We're on a journey toward more sustainable packaging for our products. By 2025, our carton boxes and leaflets will be solely manufactured using FSC or SFI certified materials that follow practices to ensure our forests are protected.

SFI Certification

DulcoLax® cartons display The Sustainable Forestry Initiative logo to signify that our cartons have been sourced and manufactured in an environmentally responsible manner. This certification reflects that the paperboard source for our cartons comes from noncontroversial sources in the supply chain (recycled content, certified forests, and small family forest owners).
