In a healthy digestive system, the colon extracts water from the waste material and then pushes the waste - also known as
stool - out of the body when we go to the toilet. But when one is constipated, too much water is extracted and stools can
become hard. This often makes the problem worse.
A stool softener is a substance that draws water back into the stool, making it softer and easier to pass. Dulcolax® laxatives also have a stool-softener effect. By drawing water back into the contents of the colon and gently stimulating the muscles of the colon, Dulcolax® gently provides relief from constipation.
